Atlanta Preservation Center offers fall Twilight Guided Walking Tours
Special tour of Neel Reid-designed homes on Fairview Road in Druid Hills on Sept. 14

The Atlanta Preservation Center (APC) is continuing its Twilight Guided Walking Tours of four historic neighborhoods in September and October. Barbara Vogel will offer her special guided walking tour of the Neel Reid-designed houses on Fairview Road in Druid Hills for the first time this year on Sept. 14.

Atlanta classical architect Neel Reid (1885-1926) has been nationally recognized for his contributions to the “American Renaissance” in architecture. From 1911-1919 he designed 26 homes in Druid Hills, which had been planned by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1893 and developed by Joel Hurt and Asa Candler.

“We are very fortunate to be able to offer this special walking tour of the work of Druid Hills’ greatest architect. Neel Reid designed 10 homes on Fairview Road alone and lived in two of them,” explained Rebecca Roberts, APC’s director of programs and tours.
