The Atlanta Preservation Center has a long and successful
history as an advocate for the Citys architectural and historic resources. Certainly
one of our best moments was our participation in the creation and passage of the City
of Atlantas 1989 Preservation Ordinance. Since then we have advocated for the
protection and historic designation of many buildings and districts, and the passage of
crucial legislation.
The Center has been a tireless proponent for historic
preservation with efforts including walking tours, talking tours, heritage education, and
our Buildings Worth Saving workshops for commercial and residential structures.

 Buildings
Worth Saving
The Atlanta Preservation Center, in conjunction with the
Atlanta Urban Design Commission, provides technical assistance through its Buildings Worth
Saving Committee. The Committee is made up of professionals in the fields of architecture,
landscape architecture, structural engineering, law, real estate development, and other
related fields, whose primary interest lies in maintaining the architectural character of
Atlanta. Examples of the consultation services provided by the Committee include condition
assessment, design assistance, financial analysis, tax incentives, and project planning.
The Committee offers two workshops annually, the
"Bottom Line" in the Fall focuses on the rehabilitation of listoric commercial
buildings and "Live In A Landmark" in the Spring examines the purchase and
rehabilitation of older homes.
As part of its work, the Committee maintains a list of
"Buildings Worth Saving," structures which are historically and architecturally
significant, and which are for sale or lease. The intent of the list is to provide
pertinent information on each building in an effort to match up potential buyers and
tenants with the present building owners. You can take a look at the
List online, or contact info@preserveatlanta.com
for more information.
