2003 List of Endangered Buildings:

2795 Peachtree Road Apartments
Address: Peachtree and Rumson roads
Contacts: Peachtree Rumson, LLC, Tom Schmit, 404-853-1620
Threat: Neglect.

The loss of historic fabric along Peachtree Road is radically changing the scale and character of the area. The intersection of Peachtree and Rumson roads is fortunate in having the Garden Hills row of commercial buildings, which have provided service to the area since the second quarter of the last century. The neighborhood that surrounds this commercial area has changed dramatically with the loss of historic buildings across Peachtree at what is now the Cathedral of St. Philip's parking area, and more recently with the dereliction of the apartments at Peachtree and Rumson. These Colonial Revival complexes date from the 1920s and are graceful survivors from a time when this part of Peachtree was one of the most beautiful streets in the city. These apartments are in a derelict state through disuse after being empty for a proposed development of the site.
