Spring Hill H. M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home
1020 Spring Street
Spring Hill Mortuary, designed to look like an English manor house with extensive gardens, is located on a high point in the City of Atlanta. The building, designed by Atlanta architect and American Classicist Philip Shutze in 1928, has colonial interiors and a chapel with delicate Adamesque details. Spring Hill is the third funeral home operated by Atlanta's Patterson family and one of the best known in Atlanta. In the 1990s, it was purchased by an out-of-state company, which, in need of cash, may be interested in selling it to capitalize on the high land values in Midtown. The 3.5-acre site and its proximity to the downtown connector make it an attractive redevelopment property.
